Paying for Care

Everyone is concerned about money. We are too. We want to minimize the money you and your iinsurance company need to pay to resolve the headache/neck pain problem.

The best way to do this is to be honest and sincere, and most of all, be compliant to our suggestion. Over the past 30 years, we have developed a program that gets the best result for the time and dollars spent.

We believe we have the best program and the most realistic fees. The average patient spends about $1,500 in our office and somewhat less than that in physical therapy, and considerably less then that if we need to see the health psychologist.

The initial exam takes about 45 minutes. It is based on your questionnaire and Dr. Ney's exam and findings. If Dr. Ney takes you as a patient, you have an average chance of success of over 90% if you are compliant with the program.

If your insurance company does not pay anything, the initial exam is $135.00.

If you are involved in an automobile accident, we will see you under your PIP (personal injury policy). If you have used all of your PIP ($10,000) we will bill your medical insurance and/or have you sign an agreement that we get paid when the case is settled.

We are in network with Humana, Bluegrass Family Health, United Health Care, Medicare. (Medicaid only covers those under 21.) We are a provider for Anthem but not in network with Aetna (their decision, not ours). We will try to be in network with any insurance company that will allow us to be in network. The same rules that apply to any medical insurance policy, such as deductables and co-pays, apply likewise to us.

After the initial exam, you can make a more educated decision on how to go forward with the program. Before you meet with us, you may not know enough. You may know, for instance, that you have been to a dozen general practioners and had two dozen tests from blood work to CAT scans and MRI’s. But these may not be sufficient.

A good first step is to have the initial exam in our office. Because of our approach, when you leave, you will have an understanding of your headache/neck pain. We use patented visual aids to explain your pain. We take a complicated problem and make it simple to understand.

It is very important that you have a very good understanding of the cause and treatment of your headache/neck pain. Why? Because you want to be able to resolve most flare-ups yourself. We are always there for you if you need us, but if we teach you how to manage your own pain, the results will be quicker and less expensive.

We also encourage you to bring a family member or friend with you to listen in on the exam , so that someone besides you, understands. the problem.

Our "Help for Help" Program

If you have no insurance and no money, you can use our “Help for Help” program. With this program we ask that you volunteer at a nonprofit (like Good Will, Salvation Army, Hope Center, Your local food bank, or Habitat for Humanity). We will credit you $15.00 per hour worked that you can use to pay for our Headache Clinic services. You can use this to pay for up to 50% of our fees. You will need to pay the remaining fees, and can do so by setting up a payment plan.

Is this for real? Yes. We are basically giving you free treatment. However, we absolutely demand that you be compliant with the program. This means that you show up for your appointments, you email us your diary (using your email or someone else’s), that you bring your diary with you to clinic appointments, and that you think about different things that may help you manage your pain.

Everyone who is in our program gets treated the same, whether you are covered by insurance, pay cash, or are in the “Help for Help “ program. Our goal is to manage your pain,…period! But we need your help, cooperation, and involvement to do this.

For more help with insurance questions, please call the clinic and talk to Sue. She will either tell you or have our medical insurance specialist call you back.

Thank you for reading this and I hope that we can work together to manage your pain.

—Dr. Ney
